<!–IMG_MARK–> The wingdam walleye fishing over the last couple of weeks on pool 3 has been slow overall but the quality of the fish has more than made up for the lack of biters. It’s been a while since I have seen double digits of legal fish on the wing dams, since my last report to be exact. I had the chance get out 3 times this week with a mixture of results.
This past Wednesday I shared my boat with Everts Resort Manger Dean Marshall. Dean and I spent the day casting cranks to the wingies with poor results on good numbers of fish but we were still able to boat some quality eyes in the lower 20inch class. The two of us fished bait on dams that produced fish on cranks with only one fish being coaxed in to taking live bait. Dean and I did boat some smallies, white bass and catfish as well by days end but overall the fish activity was on the slow side. Thanks for keeping me company for the day Dean. We’ll fish again soon I’m sure
Thursday I spent half my day with Marty Vrieze and Joel Ellingson. I fished with the two of them the week prior with some bad weather and equipment complications. The fishing was sub-par from what I was expecting so we agreed to do it again this week. It was a good decision on our part. The day was a slow one but as you can see by the pictures we were able to boat some bigger fish on this day. Casting cranks was the plan of attack on this day as well. I was lucky enough to strike first with the big walleye that I am pictured here with. Caught this big girl on a 6A firetiger Bomber. After I was confident we were not able to pull more fish off this dam on cranks we made a switch to fishing bait rigs in front of the dam. Marty had the hot hand when we switched over to bait. I believe it was his first, or second cast and he hooked up with his first big walleye of the day. A about 10mins later Marty hooks in to another big walleye that is pictured here as well. Nice fish Marty! It was great fishing with the two of you and I look forward to sharing my boat with the two of you again sometime in the future
Earlier today I shared my boat with a couple of good friends, Brian and Sean Lyons. The numbers were on the low side as well today and the quality was not as good as I was seeing earlier in the week. Best fish of the day today was right at 21”. We caught eyes on firetiger, brown craw and apple red craw 6A bombers. Most of our day was spent trying to stay ahead of a storm moving in when we were in the Prescott area. We headed down river staying well ahead of it until a bit before 3:00pm and it finally caught up to us by the time we were in the Diamond Bluffs area. Man did we get drenched loading the boat on the trailer . Thanks for keeping me company guys .
Best cranks for my boat have still been the Bomber 6A’s. I would like to thank Dean from Everts for stocking the Bomber 6A’s . It’s nice to have access to a less popular name brand crank bait that is hard for me to get my hands on in Rochester and surrounding area. I can always seem to find the Bomber brand but the 6A’s are very hard to come by in my neck of the woods.
See ya on the river !
Just me with a 21″-22″” eye that I caught the Day Dean and I were out
Another low 20″ crank bait eye from the day Dean and I shared a boat.
Hey Dustin!
Great sharing a boat with you. We picked up a lot of good info. And it was fun to see those 3 piggies come into the boat in a 20 minute span!
Where is the picture of my 10 lb’er? Oh that’s right! It was a flathead. Looking forward to fishing with you again sir!
Joel

Joel, Don’t you worry…we’ll do another IDA Guide trip soon enough. Next one is on me.
Dustin, both Joel and I learned a lot fishing with you. We’ll have to do some kind of fall trip with you when the plastics bite gets going. I just your video again and I’m already chomping at the bit to pitch plastics.
Thank you again for a teriffic trip!!!
We just had to fish one more dam We had a great time as always, but we’ll never make it in the storm tracking business
Thanks for sharing your boat and showing me some new water. If we could have stayed with your best pattern on the best dams all day I’m sure the numbers would have been better. You definitly found the new bite
