I started my report with a pic of a great sunrise as this was the only time of day fit to be on the water.I shared my boat today with agreat young man and fellow IDA,er Caption Anchor/Troy/.Even though walleyes were my target fish and we only caught one 16in fish the other lake species were on the terror
We spent the day trolling cranks in hopes of finding some eyes and with one keeper for the day it would have been abad day if it was not for the yellows /white bass and catfish.We ended up catching about 25 nice yellows many in the 10 in range and 3 large silvers and 4 catfish up to 2#.The yellows wanted #5 jointed shad raps firetiger early any and blue later in the mourn.If we were to just have targeted the yellows I don,t know how many we could have caught as we stayed in pusuit of the walleyes.
Our best yellow action came on west end of lake in 9ft to 10 ft of water fishing the jointeds a foot off botton going 3mph.The silvers came in town bay along with a few yellows.The cats were everywhere.Today was one of them days that was just fun even though we only got one walleye and no pic %%$#&& camera the day was deffinetly saved by a variety bag and good company.I might add that the only eye came on the west end on a #7 chartruse shadrap.I hope to make it back to the lake soon as some of them yellows have got to make it to the fry pan.
The last pic just somed up the day hot and as I took this pic of Troy with this nice yellow the lake was like glass and sun was relentless.We quit at noon and the fish were still going Joe,s Guide Service 641-749-2239
Great report Joe! Glad to hear someone is doing something on the lake. I was there last week and didn’t do quite as well. I tried some live bait earlier in the evening but had no luck so I too started trolling but only managed one fish. The fishing wasn’t very good but it was just nice being on the water. Thanks, I have really enjoyed the site and find myself checking the reports/ classified daily. I love reading about how everyone is doing on water and the presentayion you are all using. I have pretty much spent my summer golfing but get pretty fired up reading all the reports. Keep them coming and thanks for the great site guys.
