Pool 4 Mississippi River Walleye Report 7-12-06

Well with the ARM event coming up.

I had to hit the water today with Jerie Eckholdt and Mike Anderson.

Mike is becoming a big pain in my wallet. Here he is with the big fish of the day just a pinch under 27 inches. Which cost me a buck.

Read on to here more of our day on the North end of the Pool.

We hit the water a 7:00 am. She was a very foggy morning.

Started out on a wing dam and I got the first buck for a sixteen incher on the third cast. Black bucktail who would have guessed. I have heard so much talk of the low water in the back channel. Needed to check it out for myself and I can confirm that the water is low enough to polish the bottom of your boat. Unless you have a boat that runs in less than 16 inches of water I would suggest you enter the back channel from the south end through 5th cut.

This next photo is of Reefrunner AKA Greg, with a nice Redwing eye.

We opted to drag a few jigs around today. Baits were crawlers and leeches. Crawlers took all of our bigger fish today. But this can change from drift to drift.

Black and blues were the best but don’t blow off orange,it took a couple also.

This next photo is a rare occasion cause he usually will not let me take pictures.

This is Jerie Echoldt with a nice Redwing eye. He is the best jig maker in the biz, also makes all my rods. Thanks for the photo buddy.

This last photo is of the jigmaster himself. He did not see me with the camera. I sneaked this one in on him.

It was a great day on the water our numbers were not there but we caught some nice fish all tolled we had nine keeper fish. All fish were released to fight another day. The water temps are so high right now that I do not think you can keep them alive in your well. I was making 82 degree water temps.

With all this heat bring plenty of fluids and keep drinking them. Use plenty of sunblocker. Take some shade breaks. Have a great day.

Hope to see everyone Friday at the ARM event.

Take care and let the big one go.

When I'm not fishing or working I'm looking for nitecrawlers...and Tournament Angler for the past 20 plus years.
