Well with the day off I was going to the North end of the Pool for some tourney pre-fishing. However Mike got a job and today was his start day. We had to be off the water by 1:00 pm. We decided to go give the bucktails a few hours of work. Boy did they ever we boated over fifty fish in less than four hours. Talk about staying busy.
This first photo is of a 23 inch eye we pulled from 18 feet of water.
Read on to hear about the four hour day on the water.
I also am playing with my camera I changed some setting and wanted to see how they came out. We stuck strickly with bucktails this morning. We got a late start cause I sent Mike to Winona to get willowcats. We launched the boat at about 8:30. This next photo is of Mike with one of his eyes a 21 incher. He got her on a black bucky in 14 feet of water.
This next photo is of one of those brown fish taken on the inside of a wingdamn. We didn’t measure any brown fish but I think they were all legal. They all went back anyway. They sure can be pesky when your looking for walleyes.
This last photo is of a double that mike and I had on a wing damn. We caught seven species of fish today. A couple of the carp were pushing the double digits they really make your wrists sore. The sheephead were rather small for us this day, nothing over five pounds. We fished until 1:00 pm and loaded the boat and called it a day.
We had five very nice eyes today maybe 12 pounds.
It was also great not touching any live bait for a change. I hate getting stung.
Take care hope to see you on the water.
Here is one more Brown fish Mike caught on a bucktail.
This was in our secret spot.
Nice report Vandy. I’m going to have to book you for a wingdam seminar sometime soon! We tried pitching bait to the few dams on the upper end of the pool last night, and could only manage a couple of big goats. BAAAAAAAAAAA!
Nice fish guys! Mike’s got a job…does that mean I’ve lost a fishing partner?
John
Must be tieing up all those big carp and sheepeis for Vandy…… . How much ya paying the boy?
All kidding aside nice fish guys.
I went an played on pool 3 today
am i the only one that saw that sun burn…holy cats! that is going to hurt in the morning shower!
Hey Jason yes the flow up on the north end seems alot quicker then down here. I think that they were holding water up today at Alma cause the flow here was really nice. And the water came up about four inches last night.
But that can change.
Hi John don’t get nervous Mike can still fish just that some of his days have to be shortened. He is working at St. Elizabeths Hospital Dietary Department.
Hey Dustin you are a funny guy. Hope you banged up on 3.
Missed not seeing you today. Your hand to chin pose is awesome.
Say Micah, I am playing with some settings on my camera. So the color was off some. But Mike has a white muscle shirt under his UMD shirt.
Happy hooking out there guys.
Not only is Mike a good fisherman, he has good tastes in colleges. Go Dawgs!
I need to learn the wingdams bettter. Put a leash on the cat and let it run around a bit.
