Lake Zumbro Bassin Fun

I spent the day with Mike [HOF] Smith fishing for multispieces on Lake Zumbro and we found some bass along with other spieces of fish. And you guessed it, the bass hit the Mini-Mites too. The first pic is HOF with a bass.

Some of the bass were caught with the Mini-Mite under a bobber on a sandy bottom. Casting without the bobber didn’t produce so we switched to trolling it behind the boat with the trolling motor. [you have to remember I’m a walleye guy so I might not always fish for bass the bassy way. lol]

These jigs and plastics have worked so well for us that we are experimenting with them for other species bysides panfish and so far they are fish catchers. The bass weren’t big but they sure were fun catching and its a blast watching them jump when they hit the lure.

Lake Zumbro offers alot of fishing opportunities. And with the water so clear now [could see bottom in 5 1/2 feet of water in one spot I checked] the fishery has really improved. Its a great spot for all day or even after work to get in your fishing fix on a week day. Take care and go fishin.

Thanks, Bill

  1. Looks like you guys were having too much fun
I did notice last week, that whitebass would not leave the minimites alone, and a decent perch as well.

  2. I was there Tuesday and I was catching smallies on 3″ white tube baits off the shore and largemouths on small crankbaits and huskie jerks, also off the shore line.
