The fishing for all species remains good on area lakes. From this weekends ARM event through today, many anglers are reporting good success.
I have been targeting eyes and perch on the main lake. My best action for both has come on crawler. Rigging or bobber fishing plus trolling are all working right now. The key has been to move from spot to spot until you make contact. The main lake flat that has any subtle depth change has been holding fish. I have been working mostly the 7 to 9ft range. For trolling, running gold spinners on three ways has been productive for both eyes and perch. Gills, I have been finding close to weedlines and off rock shorelines. Start looking in depths from 4 to 6ft. Both leech’s and crawlers fished under under bobbers will catch fish.
H.D has been out the past couple of weeks targeting bass. He is reporting a solid bite that continues to improve daily. Both the river and lake bite has been good for smallies and big mouths. H.D. said either Texas or Carolina rigging has been best. Good luck and I will see you on the water.
Thanks for the update Don. I was out on Menomin on Monday evening for an after-work trip. We were able to move a good number of fish, eyes and smallies, on that mid-lake flat. We were rigging leeches, and were taking fish up a little shallower than you, but I suspect that’s because we had a good SE wind to work with and a fair bit of chop.
We worked a couple of other spots that were consistent during the ARM event, but they were for the most part quiet for us, unless you count the scads of 14″ pike that were hammering anything we threw at them.
Just a quick update, the fishing remains solid. One key item for success is to play the wind. Have fun and I will see you on the water.
Thanks for the Report, pics and update Don. I’m looking forward to next years ARM Event already.
