Not often do I get the chance to report while I am on the lake! But today is different! We started out the morning in Hunter’s Point Resort having breakfast because the kids were hungry as always! But my brother in law Bruce Bombard and his daughter Becky didn’t need to eat, so they got the jump on the bite!
Early was better today. We targeted rock to mud transitions in 30 FOW. But we also got some nice fish up shallow in 19 FOW over rock. Waxies and minnow heads were the hot bait on small jigs and spoons.
Being mobile was again crucial to staying with the school. The top picture is Josh Hukriede with some absolute PIGS!If you got on top of a bunch of fish, you could knock off a few. These fish are HUGE coming in at well over a pound! Light line was also a must have for these line shy big girls!
Stay away from the crowds! We were the only people in our own little group. It had to be quiet, or fish would not bite. We are up for one more night, and I will post some more pictures as we get them!
Ice conditions are changing constantly! Stay on Marked roads. One truck coming out of Hunter’s though he could do it his way, and sunk his truck up to the rear axle!
Bruce and Becky Bombard with some sumo’s!
That is all I have to say about that.
Them are sumo perch
Atta boy, Keep on those pigs. Any of them squealing when they break water? I like this real time fishing reporting.
AWESOME..just AWESOME !!!
Tuck, glad you talked me out of going to the flats today. It was a good day on the ice. Took a little work moving from hole to hole to find the fish, but once you got on top of them it was non-stop action. I can’t wait for us to get out there again tomorrow to go after some more big perch.
Josh Hukriede
MIGHTY FINE SET OF TWINS YOU GOT GREAT JOB
She’s snowin’ and blowin’ hard right now! Bite is very slow!
Snowing and blowing is good! It’s been raining down here off and on since Noon!
Nice fish Chris…you catching any?
Looks like a blast! Real time fishing, gotta luv technology! Way cool! That one your son is holding alone looks unreal…… Perch – best eating fresh water fish available.
Looks like your having a blast Tuck, I gotta get up there someday!!
Good work, Tuck and Josh. Mama and I were up there fishing where I was last weekend but dodn’t do quite that well. Of course we just set up the big house and waited for them to come to us. Nice little party though. Mama wasn’t impressed when she saw the truck with the rear end down. Left about 6:00 when the snow started.
I noticed you always have your children with you when sending on the spot posts. Are they the ones keeping up with technology? If it wasnt for my 6 year old i would never be able to record my favorite shows.
Thank you for the report and keep a tight line.
The fish where biting so good I thought it was yesterday

WOW! Great post keep the pics coming……JUMBO PERCH
Whew! Back home finally! Had a blast with Josh and the kids. We got on ’em again today, but not in the numbers of yesterday. Josh had one that went 1.51 on a digital scale. That would have cashed a check at any of the tournies coming up I’d bet! We had 2 that went 1.3#!
We ended up with 3 eyes for the weekend, and 3 pout, and a bunch of the Mombo perch!
Nice job Chris! I was up this weekend also and didn’t quite have the success on the jumbos, We only got a couple but we did find the walleyes again when that front moved in. We had our best luck in 36 fow off of the flats, on small jigs and minnow heads. Man where they biting light though. We wound up catching at least 20 eyes between the 2 of us.
We were up for the weekend and ran into similar activity. While most of our activity occured out of our big house out of Agate Bay we did some trolling too. We caught 20 some perch with 6 in the 12 to 13 inch range. These fish would come through about every hour or so from 8 til 4. (A true banker’s hour fish) I hadn’t seen perch this large for many many years. The 4 slot walleye’s we took home were an added bonus. Secnic Angel Eye perch color lures were the ticket tipped with a smaller fat head’s head. It is a blast seeing these fish come in on the camera and smash the lure. As everyone is saying ‘the ice conditions weren’t the best and it is important to talk to the resorts about the roads. Dean at Agate Bay told us to ready our house in case the conditions went from bad to worse and they had to pull houses this week. His access has seen better days. Hope for cold weather to continue this really good ice season. Attached is a sample of the perch.
My attempt to attach a photo didn’t quite work. I will try to figure out the correct method.
