Pool 4 Just Getting Better!

Here on the north end the bite continues to improve!A special congratulations to John for his biggest eye yet,A 29 plus 9.6 pound beauty.Having known John for some time now,he is not to exciteable normally, well I got to see another side of his personality as we tried to land this big-fish in a undersized rubber-net!Good job John and I might add,he was smiling just as big when he released this fish…..I think he is thinking of a reunion this spring!

These fish were boated with many others for the fry-pan.The location was on a steep drop-off on rocks,so the depths varied.Blades,b-fish ringies, paddletails in chartreuse pepper worked well for us.

This fish cracked a purple chart ringie pitched to the shallows. The much asked about pitching bite is only getting better, but I think the best is yet to come!Although not every eye caught in this manner is a pig, they do seem to have a little xtra aggression over a vertically jigged fish.

Fish like these folks have here, are very common catchs for us now.The early morning bite seems to be a little slower than later in the day for most folks. The current seams are critical to most folks catch rates,as well as just changing up presentations on a regular basis. The early november weather has just been so nice to be out in,and even nicer with the fish biting! It has been good to see all of the regulars back to the resort and have been enjoying meeting alot of new folks as well.It is always good to see the fishing smiles!!!!!

  1. Dean…you sure know how to hurt a guy…..its like torture, seeing those fish, and reading about the improving plastic bite, and having a busy work schedule …..might have to try to figure out a way of getting back up there…..Thanks for the report.

  2. Leave it to you to remember that! No,it wasnt mine, and I am not the only one to make that mistake.Of course if you never catch any big ones it isnt a problem, but a net bigger than the boat is getting a little too far in the other direction .

You still own that little tennis racket of a rubber net?

    I believe that’s all Dean has ever owned…. !

Congrats John on a beauty of a fish! Hope all is well, down in Delhi country! Steve

  4. Your pics are killin’ me Dean

After the great time we had Memorial Day weekend, we tried to put together a guys fall trip, but just couldn’t make it work. Next year…for sure. Thanks for the report.

  5. Dean,
Keep us posted on the bite. I’m going to Vegas this weekend but I’m thinking next weekend(or sooner) we’ll be back down. Jr. is starting to get cocky again so I have to put him in his place. Oh yeah, the walleye out of that cold water were really delicious. People who don’t like river walleye don’t know what they are missing.

  6. John’s fish was awsome! Just missed you guys this year,But Dean put us on the same pattern as Johns bunch. We did have a 23 inch sauger that looked like a football on Tuesday. Thanks again Dean for your wisdom and friendly service.

  7. Dean, Just want to thank you for your hospitality and pointers to 3 guys from Michigan that had never been to pool 4. As with any new water, the first couple of days were slow, but as we got to wednesday and thursday, we learned and the bite got better. No real hawgs, but fair numbers of nice fish. Overall I think the blade bait was our best technique. We definitely plan to return next fall, and try your area again. Thanks again, your help was greatly appreciated. John, Steve, and Jon.

  8. Great to meet you guys!It is certainly our pleasure to have you visit us and hope you make the trip again! IDA is always here to give you a hand
