With the falling water temp. and minimal fishing pressure- now is a good time to get out and enjoy some eye fishing. I really enjoy being the only boat on the water chasing walleyes! The bite is getting better everyday.
With the water temp. on the way down, numerous livebait presentation are putting fish in the boat. Jigs, plastic, to lindy rigging all have there place right now. When things slows down on one presentation, switch to another. The most consistant bite I have going, is pitching jigs. Both tipped with fats or plastic. No real color is standing out right now but orange seems to be my go to. Vertical jigging is running a close second for putting fish in the boat. I have notice that by chaging my jigging tecnique often, seems to boat me more fish. Going from an almost deadstick presentation to rip jigging. The fish are not showing a favorite method right now, so change up often.
The past couple of days, depths between 11 and 13ft were the best. A few eyes can be found deeper along with some bonus panfish. Target areas along the main channel. Play the wind for piching shoreline areas. The fish are scattered all along the windswept shore. Good luck, and I will see you on the water.
Thanks for the report Don. I’m going to have to get out there again one of these days. I saw a nice buck in my driveway last night and a monster buck this morning. I almost turned the car around. I will have to be out tomorrow with the bow and see if I can get lucky. Thanks again for the report. Have you had the chance to hit the Chip. lately?
Steve
Maybe hit the Chip. today.
Thanks for the report Don. Sounds like you are enjoying the fall bite. The best is yet to come and knowing you like I do you will be out on the water. Look forward to reading the rest of your reports this year too.
Thanks, Bill
