Rock River Fishing Report Fort Atkinson WI, 10-29

I want to say this was a great weekend but actually Saturday was the great day and Sunday, well let’s just say I had better days. This photo is the biggest walleye caught this year so far. Remember I said this year; I’ve caught bigger walleyes here on the Rock River which the biggest is a beautiful 30 incher.

Click on Read More to check out what I used to catch this nice Rock River walleye which I CPR it.

Thank You

For all you anglers that took time to read my report I want to say THANK YOU And I hope it helps you the next time you fish the Rock River.

First off before I could go fishing this weekend my goal was to harvest my EAB in the CWD zone.

Now for some of you that don’t know what EAB and CWD means let me take this time to explain it.

EAB means Earn A Buck and CWD mean Chronic Waste Disease .

Here in WI Oct 27 to the 30th is a special deer hunt and you have to shoot an anterless deer before you can shoot a buck.

So Friday afternoon I shot my anterless deer and Saturday morning I shot my buck. Pretty lucky wouldn’t you say. Here’s my little perfect ten point, not the biggest deer I shot but just happy to shoot one.

So after I took care of my buck and got it hung in the garage I went fish.

So back to fishing, as I was motoring down the river to fish one of my favorite spots in the fall I saw an angler netting a nice walleye around the 18 to 20 inch range. So I’m no dummy I remember that and if my favorite spot didn’t pan out I was going back to where I saw that guy catch that fish, which I fish that area a lot any way.

Well my favorite spot wasn’t holding walleyes on this day but was holding big white bass. It was fun catching these white bass as they were biting on the same techniques I use for the walleyes which is vertical jigging with live bait and on this day these whities were holding in 6 fow on a rocky bottom.

All my fish this weekend were caught on one of my favorite colors glow/green and size 1/4oz and jig of course the Nuckle ball jig by Fin-Tech Tackle Co.

So before I end this report I did catch some nice eater walleyes Saturday for the frying pan and it was only because I kept my eyes open and happen to see another angler netting a walleye. Which I went back to that spot about an hour later to find that the walleyes were on a good bite. Try starting to fish the wood in 6 to 4 fow with no results and then went to the 9 to 11 fow and bingo. At one time I had a three on at one time. All my rods had a fish on. I had one rod dead sticking and two I was vertical jigging with. All fish were small around 15 inch range except my big walleye in the first photo.

I caught fish on night crawlers and fatheads.

Sunday I went out and only used plastics with no results, go figure.
