I had to stay home from the big river last weekend,so I begged BFD to take me along in the Sand Flat Guide Service boat. He graciously agreed, and off we went. Fishing was good this day for those under twenty five years of age. The first pic is of my son Sean with a run of the mill eater eye from the Cedar.
While we have had no rain in our area, the water level is up thanks to the heavy rains in Minnesota and N.Iowa. We had minimal trouble getting up and down the river, I didn’t have to get out and push once! The second pic is BFD’s son Owen with a dandy Cedar eye, caught on a red craw shad rap. You will please notice the sulking BFD in the background, wondering why the kids catch all the fish.
Overall, fishing was slower than expected this day. A thundering herd of wild smallies did provide plenty of action throughout the day, with an occaisional nice one thrown in. Here is a picture of Sean with a fat bass. All our fish fell to cranks either cast to the bank or trolled on the sand, with no one color standing out. Fast action or not, you can’t fish with these guys and not have a blast! Thanks to the three of you..B
Cheer up Bud. Next time out it will be better for you. Thanks for the report and pics.
Thanks, Bill
Say I can’t tell if he is sulking??
Looks more like sun tanning to me
Nice report. Boy you Southern Boys sure have nice weather
You better bring your long johns when you come up here.
So is it really true that you Iowa guys eat all dem der brown bass?
Yes jake, it’s absolutely true……. even the little ones. We have to try to keep the bass population down. Wouldn’t want to see any bass guys on my home waters and the only way to keep ’em away is to knife each and every one we get!
good to see ya “practicing” down there.Obviously,Riley wasnt there to guide you to the big ones
It takes a special guide to steer the young’ns to the fish first
