The fishin is still good so Mike and I just had to take another afternnon off and go fishin. Yep, you guessed it. Lake Zumbro for some big gills and now the crappies are showing up to play. It just keeps getting better and better. And Mike is getting so good at slammin crappies I decided to nick name him ”Crappie Mike.”
The playground is changing alittle as its getting alittle colder outside lately so the fish are moving some. If the fish aren’t where you caught them last then start checking out cover and breaks. When I say breaks I’m talking about edges, deep edges from shallow to deep as cold fronts will push the fish deeper.
I forgot the camera [can you believe it? lol] so these pics are taken on shore instead of in the boat. This is a good time to drive around checking out ”edges” and watching for areas that have good ”cover.” Reasons why are to not only learn the bottom of the lake better but to also find late fall fishing areas. In fact some of the ”cover” areas might be good most of the year.
Mike, RHW, and I have tried to bring an awareness of some of the good fishing that we have close to home. This not only includes in the Rochester area but is also happening in areas everywhere there are lakes and smaller rivers. Not everyone can make that fall night bite up at Mille Lacs for walleyes but for the ones who can’t [like me] there is some great fall fishin action going on right where you live. Don’t put the boat away yet. Get out and catch a good day [or many days] of fishin while the water is still soft. This is a great time to add to your fish knowledge by studying the lakes or rivers and learning a few new locations of where the fish will be. Have a great Fall and we hope to see you on the water.
Thanks, Bill
Nice job Bill. Panfish in your own backyard. That works!
Excellent Bill! You and Mike have been having a nice Fall. Thanks for the reports. I’m off to “13” for some slab action. I’ll report later.
