Will the guy with the weed-whacker upstream from pool 9 please shut the dang thing down!
Catching a few 14-16 inch saugers on Viking color(purple/white) 5/8 ounce jigs in 7-14 fow on east side of Genoa dam, just down from long wall where Clement’s shuttle picks folks up. Also had a couple short fish on west side above 3rd wingdam, but decided it would be easier to start an eelgrass collection
Bass are still pretty aggressive. Doing okay twitching stickbaits around Blackhawk park. Best luck was fishing from shore around discharge tubes. Some crappies hanging here too.
IMPRESSION: Give it a week.
A friend and I went out Friday night. Beautiful moon, enough grass to make a skirt. No fish. [color:black] [/color]
Great show again this past weekend!!
I was told to ask you about someone, but for the life of me I can’t remember who??
Ted, sorry to hear about the grass. Just wondering what was being fished on those purple/white jigs?
Thanks for the report Ted. Any luck on ringworms yet?
Welcome! Young Jack!
Ted? What was Hanna’s impression?
The Viking pattern jigs which were working for me were hair–no bait, although I understand folks fishing on the float did pretty well using same color combo tipped with a minnow.
Hanna was pretty disgusted with me Tuesday morning. I actually broke down and bought a dozen crawlers after being essentially bait-free for 3 yrs.
Tried these up in Mn. slough above the clam beds in a presentation which has worked pretty well with a cane pole in the past…just for grins…and caught three walleyes which would have been beautiful mounts if they were saugers…just enough fish to poke out both ends of a hot dog bun.
If you fish the River you know there are a few spots where the action is better from shore when we have high water. Two words–drain tubes. I locked thru and headed for such a spot last nite with my wife the Admiral.
Just because the outboard kept overheating because of grass and we almost took a couple waves over the bow she insisted we turn back.
If we would have had an admiral like that when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor back in World War Eye Eye none of us would be eating fish right now.
Now that she is back in the castle where she belongs it is time to plan a serious assault on the walleyes. Wish I was born 100 years before Al Gore invented the Interweb wehn women were too busy gnawing the hides you trapped to complain about overheating outboards and a little walleye chop on the water!
Ever notice the fishing took a dive in 1919?
The Admiral outranks me on the water…but once we get home I remind her what the Bible says in Ephesians 5:22. She’s got a birthday coming up. Think I’ll get her a new electric fillet knife, then maybe she can get the work done and serve my suppr in a more timely fashion.
Skippy, perhaps?
Ah yes, please elaborate about this friend of yours.
Skippy is my infamous evil twin who seems to pop up when somebody cracks open a bottle of hooch. He has burned things, insulted fair maidens, borrowed a squad car without permission and has managed to lead me into a series of altercations of varying degrees, none of which turned out very well.
Don’t see much of him anymore…but every once in awhile he says he just wants a little barleycorn to feed the badger, then when I go to check the cage the badger is out…again.
Hey, I know skippy!!! I’ve partied with him many times!
