BC and I have off the rest of the week, and despite the weather conditions, decided to head out today on Pool 8 in search of the elusive largemouth Bass. It was an awesome morning. Warm and barely any wind as we Slammed the throttle down and headed towards the bottom of Pool 8.
We started off fishing the area I’ve dubbed "the monkey box"…a take from Lake Okochobee’s famous "monkey box" You guys that fish the river know where I’m talking about. We were primarily throwing spinnerbaits and Brovarney Swim Jigs in and around Weed Pads and duck weed. The bite was fair until the rain started falling, then things picked up like a bat out of h#ll. Gale force winds for the river at 25-35 mph were keeping boat control difficult, but we held our ground. The wind was blowing on a few weed points, and the fish were STACKED on them. We pulled probably 15 off of one point, including this absolute 19" Hawg.
Well, after about 30 fish ranging from 2-4lbs, we decided to head off to a more secluded area b/c the wind and rain was really taking it’s toll. From the background of these pics, once again, you’ll know exactly where we were. But once again, we POUNDED fish here too.
We started throwing the SuperHog and Sweet Beaver in the pit and the fish were eating ’em up. We sat in this one area and caught fish after fish after fish.
All toll today, BC and I caught 55 Bass, 4 Northerns, and the Flathead below that SLAMMED my sweet beaver. I’d take a day like today (despite rain and wind) anyday rather than being at work. Don’t put the boats away just yet fellas, good fishing has only begun. Tomorrow we’ll tackle pool 5. See you on the water!!

Who the heck showed you my secret spot!
LOL JK
I know exactly where each and every one of those spots are. Those docks in front of the condos produce some piggies. casey goode caught his biggest bass to date this year there on a plastic worm. It was 19-1/2 inches. I have caught plenty of 17-18 inchers out of there myself. Im pretty sure i know where your monkey box is but i PMed you just to be sure. Those are some nice bass. What a day.
