Mississippi River Pool 4 The Other Fish

Wednesday the 24th Mike and I went to Redwing to find some fish.

The water had more color then I had expected to see, the flow was still very slow.

Went to some classic spots and only turned three walleye’s 18 inches was the biggest so I let Mike slide over to the dark side.

We opted to go after the easy fish. I mean Bass..

Here is a shot of a Minnesota smallie.

Read On.

This next shot is of Mike with a Wisconsin Smallie.

Mike was using swim jigs with a crawfish trailer.

He has become a champion caster and flipper.

Most fish were coming very close to cover.

Rocks for the smallies and wood for the Large mouth.

I caught a few on cranks. But Mike was the dominator with the swim jig.

3/16 oz brown and orange skrit with an orange fleck craw trailer.

Here is a Large mouth he pulled from the wood.

Mike was complaining to me about catching bass wearing a Lund hat.

I think some one planted this in his head..

Hey John you have taught him well.

He has become a very accomplished bass man for an age of 14.

Mike everyone wants there youngins to be better than them…you are buddy. Even though I don’t tell you enough.

Well this is the last photo I took of the day and it was Mike with yet another smallie.

Jeez the bass sure like this kid.

How ever I have not seen him kiss one yet.

I guess he doesn’t watch enough TV to pick that part up.

Tough day for us on the walleye but the bass were sure willing to bite.

It was Good to see the married man on the water again.

Dustin might see you next wednesday, take care and congratulations on the hook up.
