Well this is a couple of days late, but WOW what a trip to Namakan and Kabetogama. We went out of EBELS Houseboats and we had a blast
The fishing was awesome I hired Wade Watson out of Kabetogama Angling Adventures for a day of walleye and smallie fishing on Sunday the 14th and he did not dissapoint us every spot we fished we caught good numbers of walleye and great quality smallies here is a pic of my cousin Joe with a bruiser he caught on a lindy and leech in 30fow
Most of the walleyes and bass were caught in 30 to 40fow rigging a leech. We were working the mid-lake humps and rock piles. After the first couple of days of WALLEYE fishing I couldnt take any more boredom so I pulled up and went after some bass the right way NO MORE BAIT!!!
I was working 5 to 15 fow with cranks and spinnerbaits. Our guide told us we were comming up at the perfect time for trophy smallies and good numbers of walleyes and he was right on. Everyone of us caught a smallie over 4lbs and we ate walleye shorelunch every day. The scenery was awesome with waterfalls, beautiful sunrises and lots of loons. This is the 3rd year we have gone to Namakan and will continue to go every year.

Is that waterfall up by Kettle Falls?
Joe’s big one
no its the one in Junction bay. Just off Namakan. we stayed on Nam most of the trip but made it to Kettle Falls the day befor we headed out. I couldnt belive how deep the fish were we out go over a 30 foot break and the graph would light up. both walleyes and bass were down there and the catch ratio was 50/50 bass walleye. we just love this trip the wives have a blast relaxing and spending time in the hot tub and site seeing. and the guys fish our off for 5 straight days. I did a video for the first time this year. I wish there was a way to share it with everyone on the site. if anyone ever wants to go just let me know our group grows every year actually next year we might need to get a second boat.
A-W-S-O-M-E Pics, sweet report. I am DYING here waiting for NEXT weekend to get here. I only get three full days on the water…but I will be using EVERY second of daylight to fish. Since the women folk are staying home, I may even spend a good portion of the night time hours fishing as well! I CAN”T WAIT! Since I don’t have any cranks that go down 30’…I may give some three ways a try.
WOW, nice fish and pic’s and sunset and woman & water falls Thanks for the pic’s and report Corey.
Dreams do come true
I wasnt crankin 30 fow sorry if I cornfused ya. we were lindy riggin that depth. I was crankin 5 to 15 fow for bass. since Im not a “walleye” “yuk” fisherman I only stuck with the bottom feeders till we had enough to eat for shore lunch. then I went for the bass. If I were you depending on the weather pattern I would start at about 15 to 20 fow and work deeper down the reefs till you find the magic depth. LIP RIPPER was up there the thurs, fri befor I was and a mojor cold front moved in pushing to fish to the deep ledges but if they have a stable weather pattern I dont know why those fish wouldnt move up shallower. Based on the time you are going you might want to try to buy your leechers now b/c they might be in short supply in a couple of weeks. fyi we were using 3/8 of lindy sinkers and a 3foot snell to a plain red gammie with a red bead. what lake are you fishing? if you need a few spots let me know and we can compare maps. hope this helps
later, Corey
I love how dark those smallies are. Reminds me of those fish from Rainy Lake. Good report.
