whopper cats on Fox River

Anytime I get within 30 miles of Titletown with a boat in to I MUST jig for giant cats in Fox River! The very best place in Wisconsin to tangle with a plus 20 pound cat is the warm water discharge at the confluence of Green Bayn and the Fox. the best access is 75 yards away, directly across the river–exit -I-43 at Webster Ave to the launch.

HUGE channels and flatheads are here all summer. They are also under the interstate bridge. But a better spot is just upstream around pilings of the railroad bridge.

I like jigging chartreuse Sonars in about 20 fow near the channel edge breakline–or tight against the railroad pilings just off the channel.

Friday Kyle Allen and I stopped for just a few minutes on the way back from Door County. It took 10 minutes to hook up, 20 minutes to fight the fish..and then we got on the road again.

This spot is as close to a sure thing as you can get. If you just want to fight a flathead or channel cat about 20 pounds, look no further! Two views of the same fish will be posted if Mr. Koonce will kindly do so. I was using an SJR 721 Loomis rod spooled with 6 lb FireLine–quite a tug!
