What a fun day on the water. I had the pleasure of guiding a great couple from New York state that spend there retirement traveling the country. I am sure glad there travels brought them my way as they were a very enjoyable couple.I wish I could have found a few more fish willing to bite but the yellow bite as been real unpredictable.I am happy to say that the bite is picking up and even on a bad day you should be able to pick up a few with somedays being good.
The guality of the fish is excellent with alot of fish around 9in and very fat.The nice thing about yellow fishing is it does,t take alot of expensive tackle I went to my go to rig of a split shot and floating jighead baited with crappie minnow or piece of crawler. We drifted many area,s of the lake targeting reefs and other stucture that I thought might hold the mother load of yellows but it turned out to be fish and there with no definate pattern. Most of our fish were caught in 10 to 12 ft basically scattered in main lake basin. As far as bait minnows and crawlers had equal results.
We ended the day with 9 yellows afew short fish and a eater cat not good fishing but as far as fun it was great. If I were to spend a rain soaked day with threatning skys and just a few fish it would be with these New Yorkers. The skys got to threatning for us and we cut our day just alittle shortand I apoligize for just a couple pics I must have gotten water on lense of digital as the rest of pics were blurry Joe,s Guide service 641 749 2239
Joe, nice to see you guys caught some fish in this lovely weather! I can’t complain to much though, we definitely needed the rain.
Way to go, maybe next time they’ll cooperate a little better.
