Another great day has come and gone spent fishing with friends and family. The boys and I were joined today by Brian Mueggenberg.Brian is one of my sponsors and runs his own construction bus.,he is one of the best sponsors a angler could ever ask for.He and I share alot of hobbies, including fishing,so it’s always nice to get him out in the boat to catch a few.We started early and got into the perch for about 30 minutes before they left the area.We ended up with about a dozen keepers and about as many little guys.
Brian with a West O. perch.
I was hoping to get Brian into a few nice smallies,it didn’t take him long to boat this nice 16″ fish.Way to go!Brian had never fished smallies until this year and he has caught some nice bronzebacks. He is a very talented angler who I hope will get his 20″ smallie someday-just make sure I’m with you!!!!
We fished many different places and had a blast. We found a active group of gills in 25′ of water and really had a good time. You had to be quick on the trigger else they would rob your bait.20 big gills were kept for a nice meal and we caught around that many smaller ones also.Austin did catch 2 redear gills a few minutes apart. Here is a pic of one.Sure are a neat fish.
Big fish of the day? Cole again was the man.He is just a big fish magnet! Check out this nice smallie.
Brian if you read this the boys and I really enjoy your company.I’m so proud to have you as one of my sponsors. You and your family are the best!!!
Take care,
Ryan Hale
All Right
Way to Go Cole
It’s good to see your reports with the kids Ryan…
Thanks for sharing

Great report, Ryan. Looks like the Hale boys are still “knockin'” the good ones. Way to go Cole & Austin. Can’t wait to get back up your way again so you fellas can show an old timer how it’s done.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It’s always nice to hear from all our fishing friends. We had very nice weather and the boat traffic didn’t get to bad until about noon. They key is to start early on the week-ends.Here is a shot of Cole on the way home yesterday.

Thanks for the update Ryan looks like a fun day with the fella’s!! Cole whats up with the snoozing just wait till you get old like Dad!! Couple more yrs you can drive home and snap a picture of Dad sleeping on the way home.
Great report Ryan thanks for the picture of Cole priceless!!
Thanks for the report Ryan, It is always a pleasure to read. I went down to Rathbun this week end, but my wife and I where both talking about IGLs. I know things are busy this time of year, but I miss fishing them. I like what the natural lakes lakes have to offer and the enviroment. Just to far for a day trip. Next best thing is hearing about them. Ha
Great report Ryan! The wife and I were talking about coming down and trying out that walleye trolling bite this fall like when we were there for the FLW.
Guys if you could have seen Coles face when he was fighting that smallie You would understand what fishing meens to him and the family.Austin is the youngest person I know with as good of a hook set as he has-Your father has tought you well!!I had an awsome time with Ryan and the boys. I always thought West was only for fishing on the Ice or in spring and fall-but Ryan proved there are fish to be cought and good ones if you take the time to learn the lake.
Thanks Ryan ,Cole And Austin for the great day!!!
Brian
Nice job guys – (exceptional smallie Cole – how big was it?) Just finished a pole for my son and he kicked me pretty well at L.O.W. last week with it on several days… keep up the good work Ryan. Chuckles
Nice Job Hale Boys
Ryan, I see you are getting the boys in shape for lugging that new gun around come Rooster season! Great report and pics as always Ryan
I look like that, too after a long day on the water. Problem is I’m driving.
Hey Ryan,
Had to go check out the gill bite on West for myself this morning, and am glad I did. I only fished a couple of hours, but caught a bunch, and brought home 14 real slab bluegills. What a hoot
Just glad I wasn’t tooling around in a white runabout with two red stripes this morning. Hope they find the lousy scum.
Thanks for the report and pics Ryan. Always great to see the boys out fishin on the Iowa Upper Great Lakes. Sounds like Cole would make a good tourny partner some day with all the big fish he always catches.
Thanks, Bill
