Bassin’ upper pool 9

Forget the solunar tables! Both the major and minor feeding periods are between 5-10 am until the furnace gets turned off!

Bucketmouths have been very active on weedlines next to deeper water lately, expecially at points and bottom ends of islands or wherever two currents converge back in the sloughs

I’ve been having pretty good success throwing a triple-blade chartruese buzzbait to find active fish, then slowing down and going with a big lizard Texas rigged with a 1/16 oz. egg sinker, or just pitching a senko. Color doesn’t seem to be that critical…but, can’t really say as all I’ve pitched lately is a melon pepper color with no reason to look elsewhere in teh color spectrum.

Usually catch 25 or fish until 10–which ever comes first, and usually you can boat 25 by 10 without too much trouble. Tuesday a 16 inch walleye ate a buzzbait back in a side channel. Fish was released, but maybe i should have done a "dogfish release" such behavior is unbecoming a critter from the Stizostedium clan!

  1. Thanks for a report I can relate to Ted. Saw a guy “launch” the boat about half way down the Genoa ramp two weeks ago, made me think of you.

  2. My first gun was a Sears 20 ga. single shot…which I thought was just great until I bought a Browning over/under…Don’t know why comparing the Rock to the Miss makes me think of this, but it does.
I’ll be guiding on 9 thru the weekend, then home for a couple days, coming back to the Miss on Tues. Gotta write a couple things for the magazine, but could probably find time to get out on Sunday if you’re on fish and wanna go. Haven’t heard from ya in awhile.

  3. Ted,

Nice bass and don’t “dogfish” the topwater walleyes. If they all behaved that way I’d be a convert .

Ted, that is a classic statement and is very funny. JR
