River Walleyes Pool 4 Mississippi River

Fishing Pool 4 with my old fishing buddy Maurice Meier brought back alot of good old memories along with some nice eyes to boot. The first pic is Maurice with a good o’l Mississippi River walleye. It was his first trip up to the area this year from Fort Dodge, Iowa where he now lives.

We were mainly fishing different sand flat with 3-ways and floaters with leeches and crawlers for bait choices. We spent time working both the regular part of each flat and also working the current edges on the flats.

We also spent some time trolling backwaters with crankbaits and along an area off to the side from the main channel where there was a rocky shoreline which produced some decent eyes as well.

Sorry I’m alittle late getting this posted as this report is from the weekend of July 9-10. The weather had been nice and hot and the fishing was heating up also. Always great to be on the water and after all, this is the weather we had all waited all winter for. Right?!!! lol. Have a great day on the water next time you are out and hope you enjoy it no matter how hot it is.

Thanks, Bill

  1. Thanks guys. I normally don’t post pool 4 reports but rumor is Dusty has been sneaking of to other pools to fish [did I let that secret out? lol] and James is very busy and the others are must be busy so I tried to pick up alittle slack there. [maybe I should open my mouth more on pool 4 fishin instead of always figuring others will post on pool 4] I try let the younger guys who guide do the reporting and I work more in the back row with different forums and do alittle reporting and I will get alittle more active in that area. We ALL learn by EVERYONE sharing and thats why its so important that everyone shares their fishing outtings and experiences and knowledge. You don’t have to be a staff person or guide or an excellent fisherman to share with others on the different forums. Look at it this way, if they let me share they will let anyone share.
So please post away everyone as we ALL learn from EVERYONES sharing.
    Thanks, Bill
