Well things are looking up on the walleye bite down here on the lower end of Pool 4.
The water is finally getting down near normal pool.
The water clarity is very good. The flow has slowed and the bite is on.
I have been using a jig and a crawler, best set up for my boat.
Here is a photo of Micheal Streyle from Rochester. This was his first time on the Mississippi seeking the wild walleye. This young man can just flat out catch fish.
He was the hot stick in the boat all day.
Read on to hear more of his trip.
This next photo is of Micheal Streyle with his first River eye.
Mike used a 1/16 ounce jig and crawler to out fox this nice 23 inch eye. His biggest todate.
Great job Mike.
He was working the jig and crawler on a 12 foot edge.
The fish are not slamming baits just picking up the offering and then you have to set the hook.
Mike is a very quick study and was out fishing us.
It was a pleasure to be in the company of such a fine young lad.
The U.S. Army Corp has set up it’s dredging operations right across from Reads landing. They need to remove alot of bottom coming down the ole Chippewa..
This is a huge set-up.
And they do have a long No-Wake zone set up.
So please pay Attention to it.
Here is a shot of one of the tandem duo that is working there.
This last photo is of Dave and Mike Streyle.
With the walleyes they took home.
We also had some nice sunfish and a couple stripers.
All and all it was a great day on the water.
The temperatures were extremely hot so we did lunch on a sand bar, they took a swim and we went right back to fishing.
We had the boat back on the trailer and cleaning fish at 3:00 pm. The temp was 93 degrees here in Wabasha.
Here is a photo of one of the strongest fighting fish on the ole Mississippi..I think it is a toss up between flat heads and these babies..and these have much nicer lips.
This sweetie blasted a black bucktail
Here is another photo of the dredge at Reads Landing.
This is the Streyle father-son Duo from Rochester.
Relaxing on the Mighty Mississippi.
Vandy,
Nice report, and good pics. Looks like everyone had a great time despite the heat.

emover,
It was in the low 90’s all weekend. Friday, Saturday, I wore T-shirts…Come Sunday I had to go to my Long sleeve white shirt I was baked.
Today it was 95 degrees when I came off the water at 2:00.
Man can you southern boys take your weather back.
