When this big girl blew up my little Heddon Torpedo I almost flipped backward out of the boat! The ferocity of the strike was like a dynamite blast! The 10# Trilene started peeling off my little Diawa baitcaster and the fight was on!! 22 inches of angry Largemouth Bass vaulted out of the water…Man..What a rush!
I fish Canadian Shield lakes here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Bass of 17-18″ are about as big as most guys ever get due to the long cold winters and relatively sterile rocky lakes. An 18 incher will generally be around 20 yrs old according to the fisheries experts.
I can only guess a weight of close to 6 pounds…Her tail was still bloody and half worn off from spawning. I’m happy to say she swam off strong to fight another day.
Nothing like topwater Bass!!!!
Bass like this are more the norm.
Or this little Male who boldly nailed my Zara Puppy
good report and nice fish. You are right topwater is a “blast”. The bass in my avitar was caught on topwater. She really exploided on it.
Hey Tom,
Nice report great fish…
You ever us slug-os or super flukes???
It is kinda of a sight bite bait.
Been working for use around here.
Take care..
Wow what a hog Tom!!!!

Nice pics too!
I love Superflukes Vandy…They haven’t been as hot this year for some reason? My other favorites are the Zara Puppy and of course the Heddon Torpedo.

BTW…thats an old autographed Cotton Cordell Magic Touch graphite rod and a Diawa MG series baitcaster I rebuilt. I like it for light lures because it has some whip in the tip.
What a PIG

Nice Fish Tom!
