The bite on Pool 4 an 5 is in great shape with many big fish makin there way to the boat. I have been havin so much fun with largemouth I havent had much time to concentrate on the smallmouth.But from what I’ve heard is the smallmouth have the feed bag on. This first picture is of Kris Branter of Pepin Wisconsin with a Pool 4 TOAD. Kris is known as fishermanpepin on the website. This fish was caught in the morning on topwater bait.
The key to finding this fish is finding the bait fish an when they are feeding they are pretty easy to pick off. As the day goes on the fish are a little harder to catch but they still can be. This fish was taken by me in the middle of the afternoon
I have been catching most of my fish early in the morning because I like to beat all the boat traffic. It seems like nobody likes to get up early anymore you can practially have the river to yourself.I”m sure you could do good in the evening but theres still plenty of boats running around in the evening. This third picture is of me an brute Mississippi River Largemouth. I dont think they bass are havin any trouble findin forage. Look at this fish they are great shape.
This last picture is of a good friend named Paul Centres. Paul an his friend Nate Stevens come up every year from North Carolina to spend a couple days on the Mighty Mississippi River for alittle R and R..With all the big fish with the feedbag on it will be intersting to see what kind of weights are brought in for the up coming tournaments this weekend.

btw my name is brantner not branter. and i was surprized to actually catch a decent fish mainly becuase flick must think its funny to front end me. he usually makes me cast out in the main channel where there are hardly no fish. but luckley that day the wind moved the boat around so everyonce in a while i got to cast at the good cover

Some spots would have a big school on them but no fish that weighed over 3lbs.There would be 10-20 on some spots. Then the spots where the big ones came off of there was only big ones there. You’d catch one or two big ones an maybe a really small one..
