Over the past two weeks I have been out several times in the high water looking for smallies and stripers and I had no problem finding several of both.
I started out looking for shore line current breaks with rock closing dams off the main channel just north of PdC and the first one I came onto ended up being one that handed out over a dozen smallies and a ton of stripers too.
Pitching a 1/8 oz or 3/16 oz Precision jig with one of BfishN Tackles Paddletails tight to shore and letting the current wash it up into the closing dam was the key to putting these hungry fish into the boat. Electric Blue/Pearl Tail, Oystershell and Catalpa Orange/ Chart. Tail have been my hottest colors.
Stripers were really active and with either plastics or crank baits we could pick up unlimited 15-17 inch fish and boy do these babies fight !!!
Stripers were all over and not concentrated in one spot like the smallies were. When the smallies took a break from feeding we would play a little “Around the world” pitching cranks and plastics, working a complete circle around the boat. Look for a little minnow spray and pitch in that direction would almost guarantee you a fish !!
One day we took a trip up to Bill Hubbard’s fishing Float just below the Lynxville Dam. Bill invited us on the float for some fantastic bass fishing. Bill told us where a couple of rock piles were that we were sure to pick up some smallies and large mouth and with in seconds these two fellas were on the fish with every other cast..
Here again the Electric Blue and the Oystershell Paddletails were real hot rigged on a 3/16 oz precision jig
We caught several fish on the float, Stripers, Smallies, Large Mouth Bass, Walleyes and even some real nice gills were caught on Paddletails..(hungry devils)
Fishing is hot on Pool 10. The river is going to come down in a hurry now but the fish will still be feeding. Check out all the plastics BfishN Tackle has to offer and also the precision jigs there is no better jig for plastics or live bait fished in this manner.
Fish On !!
Ice Blue with the pearl tail came in second for colors that pulled in fish. Here is a shot of one coming to the boat
And here is another nice smallie caught by Shed10
LM Bass too
Nice Report Dave!
Glad to see you can still find time to get out and fish!

Great report Dave.

Nice report Koonce! It looks like your not quite sure what to think of the Largie you are holding. Either that or it has gas
All them green carp smell

and she said that she saw Blue Fleck last week and Tom kissed her right on the lips
She said if I kissed her she would unlock the keys to catching big Bass. So I did, and her revelation was “Big Bass live in the water.”
Never trust a green carp.
