I’ve been out three times this week with good numbers of fish coming to the boat. I started on Monday on Pool 16 trolling crank baits on clam beds and mussel flats. Here’s Brent Henning of Rock Island with a nice 22″ eye. Over all, all three days produced good fish.
Monday afternoon I got the chance to get out for a few hours with Brent. We started out trolling a clam flat that was down river of an outside bend and we came home with a limit of good sized eater. All our fish came out of 4 to 7 FOW. pulling 3/16 oz. Hot and Tots. Blue/Silver was the best patter that we had.
Friday I had John Sullivan of Grand Mound Ia. with me for the day. Again we pulled cranks on the same flat as Monday. Our first pass we had a double on. Both fish were in the 17″ class. We continued to troll the same flat with 9 more fish coming to the boat. Seven were keepers an the other two were short. Fire Tiger and Rainbow were the hot patterns for the day. Here’s John with three of the best fish of the day.
Today my better half and I decided to fish Pool 17. I have fished this pool only a hand full of times. I’m happy to say that she out fished me again
. Instead of trolling cranks today, we opted to pull three ways with stick baits. We were pulling along the cannel edge on a 12′ flat that dropped off to 20′. Within two hours we had our limit of fish. We only took a few for the frying pan today.
Great report and pic’s Tony. Good to see you on fish these hot summer days. I had a bad day today but at least I got out.
Great report Tony! You ‘da man!
You are hammerin’ the fish and I’m struggling to find any keeper size fish. Still having a majority of my fish either too small or in the slot. Lots of fun catching those 20-27″ ers, but gotta bring some home for the pan from time to time!
Lots of these rap wreckers also!

I know exactly how you feel Jeff. I’ve had plenty of those days
