Central Mn, Koronis / Browns, June 12th

When Walleyes don’t want to cooperate, try some Bassin.

My Brother Glen and his wife Pam joined me in the boat today which started on Lake Koronis. While still fishing in 17 ft of water with leeches, Glen hooked into a beutiful smallie. After a quick measure at just over 19 she swam away. It was fun watching him bring this fish to the boat. The fight of these fish just surprises me everytime.

After several location changes and a few different presentations with nothing going and quick visit from our local CO, we decided to try some different water. We did talk to some others that had some success early in the day with a few walleyes at the boat ramp.

Going to Browns we geared up for some Crappie and maybe even a little Gil action. Again… several spots tried and few fish cooperating. Then Glen the Bassman (yeah) wants to hit a few bass haunts. We pull in quit like and with leeches and bobbers started pitching at trees and fish we could sight. Glen soon hooked up with this dandy.

Several fish of this size where CPR’ed. We spent the remainder of the day pitching and casting and had a great time. Next weeks weather will hopefully improve the Walleye action around here. I was out three times in the last four days and have one very small walleye to tell you about. It was small, Done!

Happy fishing and hope for some more weather days like today.

  1. Denise, you are part right. She didn’t even care to wet a line, until I boated the big smallie, then she was scrambling for a rod !!!

  2. Tuck, a bass fisherman I’ve never laid claim to being, but yesterday, the bass gods were smilin on me !!

  3. Hmmmmmm………………..That backround looks mighty familiar?

Looks like a nice day, you guy’s didn’t even get rained on, what kind of fishing is that!

  4. Nice fish guys. I think I know that shoreline pretty well. Grandpa and I have spent many hours trolling up and down that shoreline for walleyes. I can’t say too much more about it or I’ll be giving away our hotspots!!!
