Nice Fish!

The weekend weather thus far has made for a successful outing for the guests at Everts.A round of applause for Hunter Orthmans first walleye pictured with a very proud dad,Dale.CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! It has been an honor to see several kids at the resort catch there first fish this weekend,I know I remember my first fish like it was yesterday.

Willie,from Dumont Iowa landed this 28 inch 8.5# trophy tolling a #5 jointed shad rap.They were fishing out of one of our rental boats with just the basics,guess all that gear I have on my boat isnt always necessary to catch a big fish? Congrats to Willie!

The bite in general has really picked up the last couple of days,but in all honesty,it couldnt have gotten any worse for about 2 weeks.The water levels and clarity have been remarkably stable considering our weather.The stiper bite is still slow,but improving as is the cat bite.

I hope everyone had a great long weekend and am reminded to tell everyone to get that family member out fishing,you wont regret it!

  3. Thanks for the report and the information Dean. I’ll second the take your kid fishing statements. Ive got a partner for years to come because I put the time in when the boy was little. I have pictures around somewhere of changing the boy on the old Lund seat, I’m waiting for him to get too cocky and I will bring them out. If you put the time in when they’re young it pays off in the long run. Now if I can just get the boy to let me catch one once in awhile.

  5. This is the proud dad here. This actually wasn’t the first walleye Hunter has caught, but certainly the biggest. A 23 inch walleye is all the fight a 6 year old wants

    Watching your kids catch a good fish is waaaay more fun than doing it yourself, and this one was a real trip maker for us. BIG THANKS to Dean for being such a great host. You went way beyond the “call of duty”, and it was greatly appreciated. Hunter made me put the new fishing pole together yet Monday night. Anyway, everyone had a blast, and we will be back And I agree…next time I’m leaving that fancy boat and gear at home and fishing out of the rentals near the resort Thanks again.

    P.S. We picked up a few more Monday, with the biggest being about 18 inches by one of the nephews. Almost got hot out on Pepin by mid afternoon.
