Wind, rain and generally miserable weather last Saturday didn’t dampen the spirits of young guns DAvid and Rodney Marx and their Dad, Harvey, as we chased bluegills on pool 8 at Stoddard and later pool 9, using a third crawler on a small hook about six inches below a medium split shot
We found the fish on pool 8 just a long cast out from the boat launch at Stoddard, hanging right in the weeds about six inches off the bottom in three feet of water. 10 foot "crappie commander’ poles and neutrally bouyant pencil floats were a major key in hoisting ‘gills out of the "salad"
On pool 9 we used a slightly different approach, tightlining just inches off the bottom up above the fishing float and in eight feet of water along rip-rap downstream. Once again the long poles were an advantage, allowing a vertical presentation away from the boat on these sometimes wary fish.
The bite should continue–even improve as we move toward the full moon period next weekend.
Thanks for the report Ted, when you get off the Miss for awhile I’m ready to show you some great fishing on the Rock again. Don’t wait to long buddy, you know were do for a great outing.

PS. Your turn to buy
Good to hear the panfishing is picking up. I am going to try my luck on pool 7 on Saturday and Sunday for some gills and specks hopefully things go well. Will post results when I get home.

Thanks for the report Ted. Gills are always fun catching on light action poles. Feel like a big fish and they are great fighters.
