Started pre-fishing pool 10 for a tourney on Thursday and had some success. I found some bass holding in shallow bays with sparse weeds off of a wood bank. The fish were hitting a spinnerbait in the 56 degree water. My best fish of the day came off a series of rock banks with some wood on them. Pitchin tubes and a 1/2 oz. black/blue jig was the ticket. My big fish of the day cam on a Carolina rigged lizard. Here is a picture of a smallie that was a little over 3 lb., sorry for the poor pictures, I was by myself.
Friday I did a lot of exploring and found some good fish holding again on rocks and caught two nice bass on a rogue. This bass was around the 3 lb. mark as well.
The prodiment pattern that I established this weekend was fipping a 1/2 oz. black and blue jig to flooded trees and bushes. Here is one of the bass that hammered a jig on a flooded bank.
Sunday brough just beautiful weather for the tournament. After finally getting a starting battery from Walmart at 5:30 a.m. We found that the fish we had going we very reluctant to bite. After braving the 30 mph wind, sleet and snow, we ended up with 3 fish for 8 lb. I did get one nice bass in our bag, that went 4 lb. but lost out in the big bass race to a 4.96 and 4.82. The winning bag I believe was just under 20 lb. for six fish.
Thanks for the report Glenn. The different situations with different presentations needed that you shared make the report very nicely detailed with usefull information for everyone who wants to catch some bass themselves. Thanks.
Thanks, Bill
