Steelhead season is in full swing in our area. All the major tributaries flowing into Lake Superior have had a good run of steelhead. Fish are being caught regularily on the Cranberry, Sioux and Brule rivers. Alot of angler traffic on the weekends but the week days have been quiet. The rivers are remaining slightly high and turbid promoting a sustained run of fish from the lake. I fished with Russ Sleight this past Sat and he landed 3 small males and hooked two large fish which deicided to extract themselves from the hook. Fished the same water on Sun with client Tim Logeman and his new fiance Cary and we blanked. The fish moved out of the lower stretches and headed upstream to spawn. Just needed another day or two for fresh fish to enter. All the local inland lakes are ice free and a big pile of mush ice remains on Chequamegon bay and outlying areas. The Hot Pond in Ashland is attracting angler attention for walleyes but the bite is very slow. Spring smallmouth bookings are going strong so just a reminder if anyone is interested in booking a trip for May or June you do need to contact me quickly. Have a great week and be safe.
