Metro Panfish

With the walleye bites being a little slow around here and up north, panfish have been filling in nicely! Chisago, South Center, Prior just to name a few. Sunfish make up the bulk of the fish, with a little sorting in the Lindstrom/Chisago area. Waxies and minnows working best. I did however due fairly good with plastic twitch tails.

The kids came with me today. Due to time, we fished Lake Rebecca here in Hastings. The sunnies ran nice. I wish we had a little more time to go after them. They wanted a really slow presentation. A very slow lift, and stop method that I usually use for clear water, lockjaw fish that see a lot of lures.

Prior, depending on the spot, is giving up some nice sunnies, and crappies in the evening. Lake Bylsbie (Sp?) in Cannon Falls is giving up some nice walleye in the afternoon and evening. I have been spending some time on the Croix as well, with limited success. My fishing partner, Tim McCabe and I spent a good part of Thursday afternoon chasing sauger and walleye. Landed two cigars, and lost a decent fish half way up. Hopefully, things there will improve. It is not long now until the sturgeon show up. They must be returned to the water immediately, but what a rush on light tackle!

Monday it is off to Prior Lake to check out a few new spots. If all goes well, I will post up again and let you all know how it went.
