When I arrived at the boat landing in the dark on Saturday morning, I wondered if my clients David and Cindy Iaccino would even show up. I wondered a little bit about why I even bothered to showed up.
Outside the Jeep, the wind was blowing hard and although the rain was intermittent, at times, it came down hard.
The only good thing about the weather this morning was the temperature. A balmy 58 degrees at 7:00am.
What is it about walleye fisherman that inspires us to go fishing even on a morning like this?
Well David and Cindy did show up and we did go fishing and shortly later, we all found out exactly what it is that inspires all die hard walleye anglers to get up and go fishing on a morning like this.
29-1/2 inches and 9lbs of smiles for everybody in the boat!
David was one happy walleye fisherman after landing that big girl. Quickly proclaiming it to be the biggest he’s ever caught. Congratulations David! That was a really nice fish. Best part of it all, he released it right back into the waters of Lake Wisconsin. Cindy and David intend to come back and catch it again next year.
About and hour or two later after we all finally managed to wipe the silly smiles off our face, we once again started concentrating on actually catching some more fish.
Right about then, Cindy barked out that she had on a fish.
This fish was putting up a pretty darn good fight too!
Cindy showed that she was no rookie though and kept a good bend in the rod while battling this beautiful 22" sauger all the way into the net.
Nice Sauger Cindy! She also released this fish immeadiatly after we took this picture.
Later in the morning, we managed to put a 19.5" and a 18" walleye walleye in the net also.
Around 1pm, the wind and rain finally got the best of us and we decided to call it quits. Tough day but nice fish to show for our efforts.
Wednesday evening (10/20/04) I received a call from Lake Winnebago guide Scott Ehricke. Apparently he had a Father and Son duo that was desperate to get out and do some walleye fishing while spending a week at the Dells on a family vacation. He didn’t have time on his schedule and asked if I could fill in by taking them out on Lake Wisconsin. Scott and Tyler Wheaton drove past it each year on the way up to the Dells anyway and always wondered how the fishing was out there.
The only date left on my schedule was for a few short late afternoon hours on Friday. That was good enough for them and we made it a date.
Well to make a long story short, they quickly proved that they knew how to vertical jig for walleyes and saugers. Scott caught and 18-1/2 inch sauger shortly after we arrived on our first spot. Tyler followed that up with a keeper and then Scott caught another. Hey, these two guys were kicking my butt!
Here’s a photo of Scott and his son Tyler. Nice job guys!
Well we had enough time left to check a few more spots.
On the last spot we stopped at, I finally managed to get in the game with this nice 26" walleye. Scott did a nice job netting it for me and after snapping this picture, back in the lake she went.
We had a pretty good time out there despite the fact it went so fast. Hope to see you out here again guys!
To the rest of you, good luck out there and see you on the water.

Nice fish Joel! Good see that area producing some nice pigs. I use to fish that area down there all the time when I lived in DeForest. It was surely a great fishery. Keep them reports coming.
Thanks Jarrad.
Question for you. Think you would ever be interested in a trip swap? You jump in your old boat up here with me sometime and I jump in yours down there.
Just a thought anyway.

Nice report Joel
Awesome fish Joe!
I love hearing about reports from other bodies of water that I am not familiar with!
Thank you.
Hey Joel,
I won’t be able to this fall but maybe this spring. Talk to me then.
Thanks Scott and Dee Zee!
I always check out your reports as well.
Very impressive fish your catching over there at Mille Lacs.
Gonna have to make it over there some day.
