Chequamegon bay area

Just a quick report on the bay. The smallies have moved into their fall patterns and the bite is really on. We have been catching fish in as little as 4 ft of water where you can find slab would down to 27 ft in the shipping channel. Live bait rigging with northern size suckers has been excellent but artificials have really shined the past week. Rattlin Raps and CC spoons in silver have been hot esp in shallow water. The fish are also relating to the 16 to 18 ft flats but not adjacent to the deep water. We are catching a few fish in deep but really they are in shallow and feeding on large schools of baitfish. Supposed to be fairly calm winds tomorrow but rain and possibly thunder storms Fri nite and Sat. Big bonus walleyes are a good possibility each time out now for the smallie fishermen. They have been laying on the edge of weeds in 4 to 8 ft of water. The rocks have been slow the past week. Areas of current are also picking up for smallie action. Looking forward to some great fishing with my clients the next 3 days. Will post pics this weekend. Good luck and be safe.
