A variety of methods are taking a variety fish! The action keeps getting better with a bigger variety of fish showing up in traditional areas. There really is not a bad presentation to throw at em right now. Pulling livebait, spinners, jigs and cranks are all putting fish in the boat. The 1st photo is a pike that nailed a spinner and ring worm.
Perch and eyes are hitting hair jigs along the channel edges. Darker colors such as purple and blacks are working best. Tipping them with a piece of crawler seems to be the preference right now. Dragging crawlers on Lindy rigs in the same areas is also producing a few fish. Look at depths between 10 and 13ft.
In the early morning both smallies and largemouth’s are hitting top-water baits. Look shallow along timber or remaining weed edges. Numerous pike can be found along with the bass. Trolling cranks in 8ft of water is providing plenty of action. Leadcore, 3 ways, or flatlining are all producing. Pike, eyes and perch all are hitting #5 craw and perch color baits. The second photo is a few of the perch that hit cranks.
Trolling spinners is real consistant also, either tipped with a crawlers or ringworms. Running speeds between 1 and 1.4mph worked the best. The bite should remain strong through the weekend- get out and have some fun and I will see you on the water. Don
Sounds like someone is having alot of fun on the water. Fall is a great time to be chasing alot of species of fish as you have just mentioned. They are all hungry and easier prey as there is less food in the lake for them to eat than there there was in the summer. Thanks for the report Don. You make it sound so easy for your readers to catch fish by telling them so many different ways that will take the fish that one of those ways has to be their favorite way.
Thanks, Bill
