Lake Vermilion fishing report.

Hi All,The walleye action has been better this week and so has the weather. The water temps have been hovering around the mid 60’s however we are expecting warmer temps next week.Live bait rigs tipped with crawlers or jigs and minnows, have been catching fish for me this week. Deep mainlake hard bottom flats and bay mouths have been my primary locations on the east end. Deep weedlines and the shoreline breaks, have been holding fish on the west side this week.

The muskie action has been day to day with some good days and some not so good days. Rocks, docks, points, weedsand saddle areas have produced fish for me this week. Big hair, gliders or topwaters seem to be working the best lately. There have been several large fish taken recently, including a 56″erreported on the west end last week.

The smallmouth and pike action has been very steady in recent days. Most of the action for the smallies as been on docks and rocky shorelines. Cranks and soft plastics have been catching my smallmouth all week. Spinnerbaits and buzzsbaits are taking the pike. I have been concentrating on reeds and cabbage beds for the pike, however the larger fish have been coming off of mainlake points and islands in deep water.Have a great week everybody and please remember to put some back. “Ace”

I have been guiding fulltime since 1988, I also do a few tournaments for Muskie and walleye. I am addicted to fishing all species, but the one that makes me smile the most, is Muskie!
