Iowa’s Cedar River

I finally got tired of working every weekend and decided it was time to hit the Cedar. Went with Big B, his boy Sean (Little B), and my boy Owen (LFD). Started out casting cranks on the rocks with no success. Luck changed when we started trolling the deeper holes off the sand outside of the rocks. First picture is of Little Fish Dude with a nice 17″ smallmouth.

Second photo is of Sean (Little B) with an average Cedar River northern that hit a crawdad-colored #5 Shadrap.

Our luck continued as we got into some walleyes. Most were of the 16″-18″ class. Not big, but decent for the Cedar. Picture 3 is of Yours Truly with one of the walleyes. I had my best success on a #5 silver blue-backed jointed Shadrap.

Last picture is of Big B with a nice walleye in anybody’s book. We were all amazed when he got it to the boat! Usually when he gets a big one on, he locks up.
