Lake Menomin & Tainter WI. Fishing Report

Both lakes are giving up a few fish so it should be good fishing this weekend. I started out the day running spinners/livebait on 3 way rigs on upper Tainter. The action started out fast and remained good throughout the morning. I was running both crawlers and leeches on Northland spinners. The best thing I can tell you is to use both crawlers and leeches, both are catching fish. I was trolling the main lake concentrating on depths from 6 to 11ft. Speed ranged from 1.1 to 1.7mph. Perch, crappies, gills, and white bass provided the action. I also hit a few small eyes trolling Bombers. The first picture is a couple crappies that hit spinner and leech combo’s.

Late morning I decided to see if I could find any action on the lower lake. I made a few trolling passes without any bites so I decided to head for Menomin. The second picture is a mixed bag taken from upper Tainter.

The fishing on Menomin was much slower. I did manage a few perch and some small eyes on leech/spinner combos. The eyes were coming out of 10ft on the main lake and the perch were in 8ft. I had to troll slow and sometimes stall to trigger bites. Maybe some night fishing would be the way to go on Menomin.

If you are planning on getting out this weekend, upper tainter will be your best bet. plenty of panfish action so get the kids out on the water! Don
