Hi All,It’s been a tough week on the Big V for walleyes. I have had to work very hard for every fish boated the last several days. No one presentation has really shined for me. I have been mostly using crawlers on livebait rigs of all kinds including jigs, lindy rigs, spinners on bottom bouncers and slip bobbers. The mainlake reefs, which are normally very good this time of year, are almost totally devoid of any life this summer. No real pattern has developed so it has been a run and gun, fish all the spots kind of week. Bay mouths and some deep gravel have produced a few fish in the last couple days however, it’s rarely been more than a fish or two.
On a brighter note, the Smallmouth bass have been very active thoughout the day and into the evening. Cranks, plastics and topwaters have been catching fish consistantly for me. Locations that are producing well for me are rocks, docks, points, rubble and saddle areas along mainlake shorelines. In shore rockpiles and bars are also a good bet for some better fish. Crawfish pattern cranks and dark colored tubes have been my go to baits this week.
The muskie action has been hot and cold this week, just like the weather. Early last week we had some great action but it has been day to day since last week.We are expecting great weather, right into the weekend, so things are looking up. Silver bladed bucktails, gliders in natural patterns and topwaters in the evening have been doing well this week. This is one of the best periods of the summer for muskies on the Big V, so get out there are cast till your arms fall off, it always works for me.Have a great week everyone and please remember to put some back!Ace <*)))><
