Trolling crank baits on Lake Koshkonong right now is awesome. For all you guides or dads or moms that just want to catch lots of fish and have fun and catch a big norhten pike like this one my son caught, Lake Koshkonong is the place to be. Check out the rest of my report to cash in on the rewards.
Flood stages are over on Rock River and Lake Koshkonong but the no wake is still in effected on the rock river in Jefferson county which by time you read this report it might be over. If your in doubt call the Jefferson county police and they should be able to tell you. Water depth are dropping fast. Soon anglers will be complaining the water levels are to low. Until then fish like Connor my son and myself and trolling cranks baits in 7 fow to catch big white bass like this one on the left.
You never know whats on the line this time of year because all fish are biting right know on the mighty dead sea what lots of anglers call it. But if you learn it it can be one of the best fishery in Wisconson. This fish my son caught on the right wasn’t the biggest but it was a 8 or 9" muskie. We caught walleye, muskie, whitebass and pike. What a day on the water. Check out the hats, thanks James.
Walleyes, Pike, Muskies, and white bass are all hitting cranks right now on Lake Koshkonong in seven fow. Read your book on what dephts to run you cranks. If you want to know what I used email me and I will be glad to tell you how I caught all these fish which we CPR all. And I hope you do the same so some young angler can catch them like my son Connor.

PS. My son all ready got the duck bill going on the hat. Whats up with that? Kids these days.
musky? looks like a northern to me. good to see your still fishing. i sold the boat so i might have to hop in yours soon..
Don’t forget to mention the huge Bullheads hitting on crankbaits too….whats up with that?
Fought the recreational traffic this afternoon and evening. Walleye and white bass bite was on. Was trolling night crawler harnesses and had to put up with occasional sheephead.
The trolling bite has slowed a little but you put in your time you still can get nice walleyes like this one.
Also Northen Pike, here’s one my fishing buddy caught this weekend.
I was out from about 10 AM to dark on Saturday. Lots of white bass too all on floating Rapalas in silver and gold, and a jointed perch. Just short walleyes.
I too must complain about illegal boating activity. It seems the pleasure boaters are either too drunk or trying to run the fishing people off the lake. There was barely anybody out early but they had to run so close my lines were nearly run over also. I was almost run over near the junk pile near Blackhawk Island by a big all red speed boat. If I hadn’t seen him roaring at me and turned at the last minute we’d have been in the water, including my son that turns 2 this weekend! Fortunately, my 9.5 hp motor was just fast enough to avoid him though so a rapid turn and acceleration made a mess of my fishing lines.
Later in the day I hooked up my largest spoon to a spare rod/reel and when the idiots got close I casted at them. It seemed to work because they never came back close again.
Hey Jeff, I’d love to hear more about those northern pike you’ve been catching. My father-in-law would love to fish for nothing but pike but I haven’t had any luck finding them yet. I was going to try near the springs on the north end but after nearly getting run over I headed back out to the middle of the lake and trolled the rock bar. At least there’s always a great white bass bite on trolling across the bar from point to point.
Most of the pike are seeking cooler water so springs are the key or the river by creek outlets. I caught most of my pike from the junk pile to the mounds trolling at speeds of 2.7 to 3.0.
