The bass fishing is really starting to get going on Tonka! I was able to spend the morning on the lake with my wife and we manage to boat quite a few real nice fish. The fish are really starting to show up at their summer haunts. This first fish fell victum to a brown Outkast jig flipped in milfoil in 10′ of water. After catching this fish we were not able to catch any more however on this spot. I didn’t see any others with the Aqua Vu either.
This second fish ended up being the biggest for the day hitting 5.0lb on the digital scale. It hit a black/blue jig worked in a little deeper water. This was the first fish we have caught on this spot this year, but it usually puts out good fish. We both stopped fishing and instead I dropped the camara down and saw a couple others. Good sign!
It was a georgous day with bright skies and little wind, perfect for pulling bass from the milfoil. Almost every spot we hit we managed to catch fish. The next two fish came on back to back casts. The fish were schooled up really nice in a couple spots like this. Most of our fish were in the 3-4lb range and hit very aggressively. I did hear that things slowed down a bit on Sat, however.
During the tournament Wednesday night we still managed to catch fish, the biggest being 4.5lb, but could only muster just over 15lbs total in those 4 hours. There were a few boats on spots we wanted to fish, buts that’s Tonka. The winning weight was around 19lbs with the last check at 16lbs. Anyone looking to get on some big bass should hit Tonka soon.
Nice fish Mike. I was on the lake last night, just for a cold beer and to show the wife some houses. We stayed on the west end, lots of pleasure traffic, very few fisherman. It was a nice evening to relax though.

Those are some toads, you’ve got me salivating. Can’t wait for our tournament next week and the bass in the milfoil.
