Sorry I am posting so infrequently due to a promotion which requires travel. Anyway, we made the annual foray north of the border. The weather did not cooperate as we had 6 of the 7 days with rain. The flow out of the dam was very high and the water conditions were very murky. Jigging was not the ticket and we soon found that baits that made noise were the key. We fished main river points with current and dragging wally divers was the ticket. The first picture is my 10 year old son Andrew with a couple of nice eaters.
We did have some fun feeding the eagles as you can see from the next picture.
The next picture is of my brother Mark who came from California to join us. We caught many 22-25″ eyes that were amazingly strong.
Although the weather was anything but predictable, we did have some amazing sunrise and sunsets, and overall we had a great time
Where on the English did you fish. Last time I was up there we stayed at the naughty pines near ear falls. It would be great to get back there some day.
Zamer,
Thanks for the report. We used to go up there a lotta years ago over Memorial Day weekend. Drove up the dam on the south end of Umfreville Lake and put our boats in above the dam. Motored into Twelnor and camped out for a few days. Lots of walleyes and some big notherns. Where do you put in?
Swede.
We stay at E-Jays which is down river from the dam about 16 miles. Just before you get to Packwash. Great place and cheap too. We typically fish from the dam down to Packwash but the dam is very productive most of the time.
I’ve stayed at Naughty Pines Fish Camp before. Great water system with HUGE fish. Their three largest muskies caught have been a 57lb, 55lb, and a 52lb (no, pounds NOT INCHES!!!). I took dad there for a week a few years back and we averaged 50 to 70 walleyes a day. This is down river from the hydro electric dam, on Barnston, Wegg, Goose lakes.
Where is E-Jays from there???
I made my first trip to Lac Seul this spring over the first week of June. We stayed at the Golden Eagle resort out of Ear Falls. We were there first day the sanctuary opened on June 1st and I have never caught so many fish in one day in my life. Not a lot of big fish but they were all in th 16″ to 22″ range. I will definitely be going back probably later in the month to try my hand at the muskie population. The first two days we were there the wind blew so hard (40 plus mph with 5′ to 6′ crests) that we fished the river and still did OK and killed a lot of Labatt’s. Great trip but it sucks going back through the border on a Sat.
