Fourth of July Pool 10 Bass Report

I was fortunate enough to be able to fish for three days this beautiful holiday weekend. On Saturday, we found the largemouth to be around rock, that had slight to moderate current on it. Crankbaits and tubes took the majority of the fish. We also got some bass off of grass lines with white RC Tackle swimming jigs, with Chartruese grubs and superflukes. Here is a picture with a 3 1/4 and a 2 3/4 bass.

On Sunday my brother and I decided to fish some new water and found bass on shorelines with wood. There was slight to no current on the wood. Tubes, rattletraps, and RC Tackle Swimming jigs is what we used. The two bass in the picture were good 2 1/2 lb. bass.

On Monday, we went looking for some smallmouths and found them on rock current breaks with moderate current on them. Tubes and crankbaits again were the ticket. No big smallmouths, but one 2 1/4 lb was caught. After leaving the channel, a backwater slough, proved to be good with bass coming off of wood and lilypads. The picture is my brother with the decent smallie and myself with a 3 lb. fish that hammered a white swimming jig. To sum up the weekend, I would have to say that I was pleased with the numbers of bass that we caught, but to get the quality bass you had to sort through the smaller ones. On the multispecies side of the board, we caught 3 walleye in the 18 to 19 inch range on crankbaits off of the rocks, only a few pike were caught.
