After having guide trips on Friday,Sat,and Sunday morning I was looking forward to a few hours on the water with my middle son Austin. We had cool temps and North winds making it feel like fall instead of summer.
I decided to hit a past hotspot that is a area from 14-16′.It is a rock and gravel area with many scattered rock piles. We marked many fish on a certain rock pile and threw a marker on top of it.We would drift over this rock pile and then troll back over the top if it.Here is a 19 1/4″ eye.
I was live bait rigging,we had a rod deadsticked in the rod holder with a jig/leech combo and Austin was using a bouncer/spinner combo. The jig and leech only caught a few fish but the others were getting bit very well.Austin found a huge jumbo leech and said he was going to catch a big fish.Guess what? He did.
It was so fun to watch this fish come to the boat.He had it close many times before we finally got her in the net. After a few hi-fives and handshacks(hugs)we took a few quick pics and got her back in the water for another kid to catch someday. We made sure she was o.k. and watched her slowly swim away-a great moment for father and son to share together.

Thanks for the story, Father/son fishing story! This is one of those “It can’t get any better stories”, enjoying the great outdoors with your son. Memories are being created each time you fish with either of your sons.
Keep sharing your reports with us and good fishing to both of you! Great catch and great to have it released for another day.
