Door County Walleye and Smallmouth Action

As much as I would not like to say but as far as fishing goes here in the Door County area I will probably not have as much to report on the Walleye end of things as I will on The Smallmoth Bass as we will be heading into Fall and I will be spending a lot more time fishing for Trophy size Smallmouth Bass until the middle of the month of November when I will be back spending more time for trophy size Walleyes but until then I will have plenty to bring on Fall Smallmouth fishing.

With the open water trolling bite during the day coming to an end here we did have some nice fish come last week once again trolling Rapala Husky Jerks along with the Tail Dancers in water depths of 20 to 30 FOW behind planer boards at speeds from 1.8 to 2 mph. With cooling water temps fish were less active and we had to constantly move around to find areas with more active fish and they were in deeper water close to structure but not on the structure.

The Smallmouth fishing has been picking up with fish beginning to move from the areas that they have been spending the Summer months to areas close to where they will spend the Fall months beginning to put on the Fall feeding frenzy. In these areas we are fishing there has not been a ton of fish but there are more and more fish showing up here daily. We have been catching these fish casting the Rapala Rippin Rap in the size #6 along with catching some fish on Trigger X tubes on 3/16th oz VMC tube jigs along with getting some fish on live bait rigs.

As the days move further into fall here along with cooling water temps we will begin to see more and more Smallmouth Bass move into these Fall areas and really begin to feed up for the winter months which will bring great fishing opportunities well into Fall. With the hunting season upon us dont forget about the great fishing opportunities we have here among us in the great Mid West states.
