Green Bay Walleye Fishing

Well finally it feels like summer is back here in the Mid West. With the past four or five days having warmer weather and south winds the fishing has begun to pick up. The south winds steady weather and warming water temps have certainly helped get the fish more active.

We have been continuing to troll Rapala crank baits for the walleyes concentrating on areas of deeper water along sides of off shore structure. Some areas that we go to show a lot of promise with the presence of bait fish along with with bigger marks such as walleyes and other predator fish feeding on the bait.

Other areas that we start fishing dont show a lot of life on them but because these areas are so large you need to spend some time there just checking for some fish because just that you are not marking fish does not mean that they are not there lots of times these fish will spook away from the boat and go out to the sides where you will not mark them on your sonar cone beneath the boat but your crank baits behind your planer boards will intercept them.

While we have been catching fish through out the day we have been finding better success in the afternoons with the water warming and the winds picking up. These fish should continue to stay in these summer areas until around mid September or when the water begins to cool then they will begin to move toward their Autumn areas.

  1. Keep on them while the getting is good Paul, nice fish. I am waiting for this blistering heat to calm down to put some productive days in on the water. -QB
