Bender Park 8-12

Another weather delay but not too bad as still able to get lines set before sun up out of Bender. Some great reports from Sat and Sun had us pumped but found water about 5 degrees warmer down 30’ than reported on Sunday. Started in 65fow straight out and bait but no hooks. Took a NNE course and current out of the south and later AM in 85fow out of the north with temp variations of 6 degrees in less than a qtr mile. Took a nice 15# chin 5 color glow Mag Easter Egg and 16.5# brown on 7 color Mag Rader Green Tiger after the sun was up and Chatter’s boat not getting much more for bites so headed deeper to waypt a friend boated a 29.5# yesterday. Turned at 85’ with a double, coho 31’ SWR Mag Bloody Death and 7 color again.

We found some bait and a few marks in the area so just stayed and worked it as Chatter was still shallower and things were quiet. Pecked away at it finding 46-52 down 35 in 85fow off the LakeShore Apt running 1.9-2.3 New Depth Raider (old speed 1.5-1.90). I trolled slower than usual as others reporting slow working better in the cold water. We got to 8 for 8 then made the mistake of saying that on the radio so missed our next 3 bites. Finally with less than an hour left to fish took a NNW course to no avail until we started pulling lines. With 4 of six board lines out of the water the 5 color with my rainbow 3F Chart/orange Evil Eye took off. Nice most of the lines were cleared as we had to turn on that 22# hen making a lot easier on the reeler. Great way to end the day.

We had 6 four yr olds, 22 and 21, 1 three yr old, coho, bow and the dandy brown. Wish we had the LT as quite a while since we boated a slam. Really nice to have Chatter’s son and other young men to lift our approx. 130# out of the boat to clean them at South Shore. Terrible facility that plugs even when we follow directions not to put heads in. Three carcasses and done.

Tuna cut plugs didn’t work today except for the ones that have not been used for a while. Got me to wondering if I have not cleaned them well enuf so today will run them through the dishwasher once my wife leaves for work.
