Green Bay/ Door County Walleye Action

Well as we all know over the past couple of weeks here in the great Mid West states we have experienced some rather cool temperatures for the mid portion of summer. Prior to the cooler temps coming we had water temps on the bay of Green Bay in areas as high as 79 degrees. now as things have cooled down we have warmer water in the high 60 degree range.

We have been catching some really quality size Walleyes over the past couple of weeks trolling crankbaits such as the Rapala Husky Jerks along with The Rapala tail Dancers. The key for us to finding the most concistant action has been finding areas of warmer water that has the wind blowing in those areas.

I have been running my Husky Jerks higher in the water column and running the Tail Dancers a little deeper in the water column. On days with high skies with lots of sun light I have been having better success with flashier colors such as blue and silver along with Tennessee shad with the Husky Jerks. On cloudy days the colors of yellow perch along with Purpledescent have worked well.

As the day progresses we have been finding the fish to move up and down in the water column so paying close attention to your locator and seeing the presence of fish we have been able to make adjustments to our running depth with our crank baits to keep them in the fish zone. Lots of very busy days ahead but I will keep the information coming as we move through Summer.
