Lake Puckaway June walleye fishing report.

Well we have been trolling on the lake with shad raps and flicker shads for the walleyes and northerns. With the warmer water temps and nice sunny days the bite has picked up again pretty good. The water was like glass and looked like no wind was coming up for the day which in this shallow water can make for some tiffer fishing .

I was out with 2 new clients Ron and Eric to do some walleye and northern fishing and teach them some of the tricks to getting into some fish on Puckaway today. They have just bought a place up the Fox river from the lake and were looking for some pointers for fishing the lake and river.

I had the boat tied up on my peir when the guys pulled up in the drive way and we jumped in the boat and headed out to the lake for some trolling with number 5 fliker shads for the 1st part of the trip. We got one line counter rod and board out to the side and was just setting out another flicker and board when Eric said the flag was down on the off shore allready. First fish of the day was a 29 1/2 inch northern and we got a pic and released her back into the water to fight another day. We were off to a great day of fishing for sure. Water dpth was about 5 foot for the day we trolled in and the set back off the board was from 12 to 15 feet of line out from the board. We ran 2 boards on both sides of the boat with line counters. We also used 2 lead core poles one on each side that are 8’6″ hanging flat out the sides of the boat with number 7 shad raps. Then we also ran 2 spinning rods out the back of the boat with 2/3 once cleos in gold and red and gold colors. The flickers colors were the blue ones and purple ones being the best colors for the day.

Great time fishing with new freinds and new neighbors just down the road from Rivers End Resort . We had some short walleyes and northerns also.

Glass conditions on skinny water is always a challenge! Great job on getting them dialed in!

I gotta agree with Randy on that.
Good job putting your clients on some decent fish under some real tough conditions!
