Lake Winnie MN

The bite on Winnie remains hot! Today we caught over 75 Walleyes and went through a quart of shiners by 2pm. Walleyes are moving up into the shallows now, 6-8 feet. Our best luck was a Northland Fireball 1/16 and a Northland Standup 1/8 oz tipped with a shiner.

Mallard point, Ravens point, Tammrack point and the Rock pile all produced catches of Walleyes. If you can find some new weed growth that is coming up fish those spots as the "eyes" are hanging out. I spoke with a friend of mine and he was doing well pulling crank baits. Shad Raps were working the best for him catching a lot of Walleyes in the slot range of 18" to 24".

Most of the Walleyes he was catching were on the perch color Shad size number 7. Northerns are becoming very active. Still the jig and minnow combination is working the best. Perch action is slow and you have to look around for those jumbo’s. Stoney point up in the rocks from 6′ to 8′ is giving up the biggest Perch so far. Fishing on Winnie is only going to get better and it looks like a good week of stable weather. If you get a chance get up to lake Winnie and the bite should just get better. Hope to see you On the Water!!!!
